There are so many things going on now at the new building. It's really coming together!
Last week the construction crew finished drywalling the showroom.
The "hub" which will be our info center is looking good. This will be a really cool area that will feature info and videos on all the latest Buick and GMC models.
This week, they worked outside on the side entrance steps. These steps will mirror the main entrance steps with access from all edges.
They turned out really nice!
They also started work on the side "annex" which will contain additional offices. This part of the building was a later addition to the original dealership.
First they had to do some demo work,
and now they're putting walls up.

Service Department Updates
We've been focusing on the showroom progress a lot lately, so let's check in down in the shop.
With the help of our friends over at Goldbeck Towing, we moved some of our hoists over to the new shop.
And the construction crew completed drywalling the wall that divides the Service Drive-in/Write-up area from the rest of the shop.

Priming the Showroom Ceiling
As we've mentioned before, GM is very particular on what we can and can't do on this dealership remodel. Originally, they wanted us to install a new ceiling to cover it up. Luckily, they ended up allowing us to keep this unique architectural feature with one caveat - it needs to be painted white.
This week, we started priming it in preparation for that coat of white paint.
Now we'd be lying if we said we weren't disappointed to see the cool original wood ceiling go, but it actually really brightened up the room. We think it's going to look really nice and fresh!

Taking Shape with Sheetrock
All the electrical, HVAC and plumbing work is done, so we’re
finally ready to put up some walls and have this place take shape. The sheet
rocking has begun!
It can be confusing to know what is what because everything is a blank canvas. So I have taken the liberty of labeling some photos to help.
Here's starting on one side of the showroom and working our way across.
Down by the Service Department, we have
Here's looking from the bottom of the ramp to the Showroom up towards it.
I hope that helped you visualize where everything is. It's really coming along, isn't it?

Showroom Tile is Here!
This week, the showroom tile arrived!
It's sitting in the shop ready to go! However, it will be one of the last things to be installed after the sheetrock is done and the ceiling and walls are painted. We don’t want any paint drips!
GM has set colors that we can use for all finishes in customer areas. The colors for the floor tile will be tan and brown.
We can't wait for this to go in!

The showroom floor is going to be really unique and mirror the hub
and spoke pattern of the showroom and ceiling. Here’s the preliminary layout –

Working on the Entrance Element
We continue working on the exterior for our grand entryway to the showroom. Buick GMC has a required entrance element for all dealerships. This entrance element needs to be up against a 40 foot flat section of the building. Since we didn't originally have that with the unique shape of the showroom, we had to make one.
Then we made the rest of the sides into 40 foot sections for uniformity. All done!
Inside, they continued working on the electrical in the floor for the workstations. This makes it so we don't have to drop electrical down from the ceilings.

New Doors & Facade Work
A few updates on our remodel project. Remember when we cut a giant whole in our building? Now we have doors!
We also replaced the front door with one that has windows to let in lots of daylight!
Inside, they made some holes in the floor and removed concrete to make way for power, phone and data to the Service Advisor podiums.
Back outside, the crew removed the old front panels to make way for the new front.
and started working on the new front by putting up trusses.
And we even had our first customer pay oil change completed in the new building by our tech Brian when we were full over at the dealership.
We can't wait for the day when we're moved in and ALL our oil changes will be completed at the new building!
